Why we need your help
As the Western half of the Bridgeport neighborhood has grown in size, it has brought a new wave of residents. Younger families with children as well as a compliment of our senior residents.
The park playground facilities have fallen to disrepair as shown in some of enclosed photos. The park's safety rating is currently 64.7. As a reference, any rating under 68 is considered unsafe. Residents from around the Bridgeport community (and beyond) bring their families to the park. It is a goal of the WPAC to modernize the facilities for the park and improve the safety and accessibility standards for the park.
To accomplish this goal we received the financial support of our elected officials, businesses and residents in the community. We worked with The Parkways Foundation and the Chicago Park District to raise the funds necessary to renovate the playground and park area. In the end TIF dollars were used.
